Ottogi Ramen to Invest 200 Billion Won in Gumi National Industrial Complex No. 2 for Export Factory, Creating 120 Jobs

On July 13 at 3:00 p.m., North Gyeongsang Province and the city of Gumi will sign a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Ottogi Ramen Co., Ltd. at Gumi City Hall to establish a production facility for export-oriented ramen.
Under this agreement, Ottogi Ramen Co., Ltd. plans to invest 200 billion won in the Gumi National Industrial Complex 2 from 2026 to 2029 to build a new ramen factory for export and create 120 new jobs.
This investment aims to establish an export production hub to meet the increasing global demand for K-ramen and K-food, and is expected to serve as a catalyst for North Gyeongsang Province and Gumi to become key centers in the global food industry.
Ottogi Ramen Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary specializing in ramen production under Ottogi Co., Ltd., a leading comprehensive food company in South Korea. The company produces a wide range of ramen products, including Jin Ramen, and is at the forefront of globalizing K-food. Currently, Ottogi products are exported to more than 70 countries, and the company is strengthening its global market presence through market expansion and the establishment of overseas production bases.
North Gyeongsang Province stated, "This investment is significant as Ottogi has chosen Gumi as its global export outpost." The province added, "Ottogi Ramen Co., Ltd. and North Gyeongsang Province plan to cooperate in fostering the food tech industry and enhancing the global competitiveness of K-food through the spread of smart manufacturing, innovation in export manufacturing, and standardization of manufacturing data."
Gumi has established itself as a leading ramen production base in Korea, often referred to as the ‘No.1 ramen city in Korea’.
To foster the food industry as a future strategic sector during the 9th popularly elected administration, North Gyeongsang Province has created a dedicated organization and is focusing on developing the food tech, smart food, and K-food export industries. The province aims to establish an industrial ecosystem that supports the entire cycle from research and development to production, investment, and export, with the goal of becoming a leading hub for innovation in Korea's food industry.
