People Power Party: "Real Estate Forum Is a Pre-Determined Policy Justification... Government Must Shift Its Policy Direction"
Criticism: "A Test Run to Justify the Tax Bomb"
The People Power Party criticized the government’s upcoming large-scale real estate forum, calling it a “pre-determined debate aimed at justifying real estate policies,” and demanded a shift in the government’s real estate policy direction.
Jang Donghyuk, leader of the People Power Party, and Jeong Jeomsik, floor leader of the People Power Party, are speaking at the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly on the 13th.

Jang emphasized, “The people do not want to be lectured. They demand answers on how the government will supply housing, how it will reduce the burden of jeonse and monthly rent, and how it will protect genuine homebuyers.” He added, “The government should immediately apologize to the public for its real estate policy failures and halt the tax bombs and complex regulations that take away people’s homes. Real estate policy must be fundamentally shifted to focus on supply and the protection of genuine homebuyers.”
Jeong Jeomsik, floor leader of the People Power Party, remarked at the same event, “The Lee Jaemyung administration is being recorded as another failed real estate regime, following the Roh Moo-hyun and Moon Jae-in administrations.” He further explained, “The three-generation inheritance of the Democratic Party’s real estate policy has a simple cause: they became trapped in the dogma that rising home prices were due to speculative forces, blocked expansion of private supply, and maintained excessive regulations and tax hikes.”

Jeong noted, “Ahead of the forum, President Lee personally mentioned detailed topics such as property holding taxes, multi-homeowners, and the criteria for ultra-high-priced homes.” He added, “This forum is essentially a test run to justify the tax bomb planned for late July or early August, as well as an attempt to shape public opinion.” He concluded, “What is needed now from the Lee Jaemyung administration is to abolish misguided regulations and shift the real estate policy framework toward expanding private supply.”
