Janggok High School Claims First-Ever Tournament Victory
Coway announced on July 13 that it held the "2nd Coway Cup School Sports Club Wheelchair Basketball Festival (Coway Cup)" at Sporound in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, on July 11.
The Coway Cup is a youth integrated sports event jointly hosted and organized by Coway, the Seoul Sports Association for the Disabled, and the Seoul Wheelchair Basketball Association. This year, the scale was expanded compared to the previous year, with teams consisting of both students with and without disabilities from eight high schools in the Seoul metropolitan area, each representing their school. In the final, Janggok High School defeated Wooshin High School 15 to 11 to win the tournament's first-ever championship.

View original imageFor this event, Coway supported each school by providing "Wheelchair Basketball Classes" led by professional players from the Coway Bluewheels and provided custom uniforms reflecting each team's unique identity. Coway Bluewheels players also participated directly as referees and event staff. A Coway representative stated, "The goal of this event was to provide an integrated sports experience where students with and without disabilities could enjoy sports together, in hopes that more young people will develop the right perception of disabilities," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to broaden the base of the sport and contribute to improving awareness of disabilities through various programs such as the Coway Cup and wheelchair basketball experience classes."
