KB Financial Supports SME Industrial Safety Infrastructure... Provides Tailored Solutions
In collaboration with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency
Providing customized industrial safety solutions in on-site improvement, safety equipment, and safety education
50 supplier companies selected, supporting about 950 beneficiary companies
Preventing industrial accidents and establishing safety management systems
On July 13, KB Financial Group announced that it is supporting the creation of safe working environments for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through the 'SME Industrial Safety Infrastructure Support Program,' which is being promoted in collaboration with the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency.
The 'SME Industrial Safety Infrastructure Support Program' was established to assist SMEs that face difficulties in building industrial safety infrastructure due to cost burdens and a lack of safety management personnel. This year, KB Financial Group and the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency selected 50 supplier companies and matched them with approximately 950 beneficiary companies. The program provides customized solutions tailored to each company's industry and working environment across three areas: ▲ on-site improvement, ▲ supply of safety equipment, and ▲ safety education and consulting.
Many supplier companies with advanced industrial safety technologies and products participated in this program to help SMEs prevent industrial accidents and establish safety management systems. In the on-site improvement area, Company A's 'Smart Integrated Safety Platform' serves as a representative case. This platform utilizes smart sensor technology, including devices for detecting travel environments and precision sound transmitters, to collect on-site data such as worker location, equipment usage, and emergency situations. Based on this data, the system identifies potential risk factors and near-miss incidents in advance and offers tailored solutions. For this program, a smart sensor-based integrated safety platform was established to manage various risks at manufacturing sites, such as entanglement and trapping accidents, as well as fire and explosion hazards.
In the safety equipment supply category, Company B's 'Industrial Smart Fall Protection Airbag' is a standout example. This product automatically inflates before a worker reaches the ground in the event of a fall at construction or industrial sites, mitigating the impact. Through this program, Company B supplied smart airbags to five construction sites, and in the second half of the year, plans to deliver products to semiconductor plant construction sites as well, thereby strengthening the foundation for the prevention of worker safety accidents.
In the area of safety education, Company C's safety education program for foreign workers is representative. Although the proportion of foreign workers in manufacturing SMEs is increasing, safety education that takes into account language and cultural differences remains insufficient. Company C invited instructors who speak the native languages of foreign workers and conducted customized online safety training. This helped foreign workers better understand and implement safety rules on site, contributing to the spread of a safety culture within workplaces.

Jinwook Kim, CEO of HiL, a beneficiary company in the on-site improvement sector, said, "SMEs inevitably feel burdened by the costs of implementing safety systems on site," adding, "This SME Industrial Safety Infrastructure Support Program not only helped identify safety blind spots in the field but also greatly contributed to raising workers' safety awareness."
