The signing ceremony, held on July 10 at the GS Engineering & Construction headquarters in Jongno-gu, Seoul, was attended by Yoon Hong Huh, CEO of GS Engineering & Construction, and Jaecheol Ryu, President of LG Electronics.
This agreement marks the second collaboration between the two companies for the development of future residential services, following their "business agreement to establish a next-generation residential robot service model" signed in April. Through this partnership, GS Engineering & Construction and LG Electronics plan to further concretize their vision for future housing by integrating AI, robotics, and space into a unified residential experience.
The two companies will jointly develop an AI home solution dedicated to multi-family housing by combining the infrastructure of Xi apartments with LG Electronics’ AI home solutions, and will seek to introduce this solution into Xi apartments in phases going forward.
The "next-generation AI home" under development by both companies aims to go beyond simple device interconnectivity, instead creating an integrated living environment in which AI understands residents' lifestyles and living conditions, proactively suggesting or automatically executing necessary functions. The concept envisions an advanced AI home service that links the infrastructure of Xi apartment units and complexes with LG Electronics’ ThinQ AI platform, connecting built-in devices within each unit, shared facilities throughout the complex, and even external lifestyle services.
Through this initiative, residents will be able to control in-unit devices—such as lighting, heating, ventilation, outlets, and gas valves—as well as access integrated services like elevator calls, parking location checks, visitor history, and community facility reservations, all through a single system that connects seamlessly with the complex’s infrastructure.
Furthermore, the AI will be able to engage in natural conversations with users, understand the context of their daily lives, and propose or automatically activate functions tailored to individual lifestyle patterns, ultimately providing Xi apartment residents with a home that "remains optimized for them without any extra effort."
The two companies also plan to expand their cooperation by organically integrating LG Electronics’ home robot ecosystem—including the LG CLOiD robot—with the infrastructure of Xi apartment complexes and their AI home solutions.
