Gyeonggi-do Economic and Science Promotion Agency and Seven AI·SW-Centered Universities to Nurture Future AI Talent
To enhance the AI and software (SW) capabilities of high school students in Gyeonggi Province and to foster future AI talent, the Gyeonggi-do Economic and Science Promotion Agency will host the “2026 SW Future Empowerment × AI·SW-Centered Universities Joint Competition” this August.
This competition, which will involve seven AI·SW-centered universities in the province, aims to establish a high school-university cooperative model for nurturing AI·SW talent and to expand the local digital talent ecosystem. The participating universities are Gachon University, Kyonggi University, Kyung Hee University, Sungkyunkwan University, Shinhan University, Ajou University, and Hanyang University, for a total of seven institutions.
The competition is open to high school students in the province, who may apply in teams of around three members. Applications will be accepted until July 27, and a total of 100 teams will be selected. Registration is available through the contest website (refer to the poster QR code).
The competition will be held in two categories: the “AI Idea Planning-thon,” where participants submit ideas to solve community issues, and the “AI Service-thon,” in which participants implement actual services using generative AI.
The selected participants will receive preliminary AI·SW education provided by expert instructors from SW Future Empowerment, then advance to the finals after university student mentoring and preliminary rounds.
The final round will take place on August 8, with the championship and awards ceremony scheduled for September 5 in conjunction with the AI Festival.
