Lee Kwangyu, Professor of Korean Language Education at Korea University, Appointed President of the National Institute of the Korean Language
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on July 13 that Lee Kwangyu, a professor in the Department of Korean Language Education at Korea University, has been appointed as the new President of the National Institute of the Korean Language. His term will begin on this day and last for two years.
Professor Lee Kwangyu, the new president, holds a Ph.D. from the Department of Korean Language and Literature at Korea University. He served as a professor in the Department of Korean Language Education at the College of Education at Korea University, dedicating several decades to academia and the field of education, focusing on the advancement of the Korean language.
He has served as president of the Korean Language Education Society and the Korean Grammar Education Society, as well as director and vice president of the Hangeul Society, with particular attention to the correct use of the Korean language by the public. His published works include "School Grammar," "The Evolution and Issues of Language Norms in South and North Korea," "Grammar Education Theory," "Korean Language Policy Theory and Language Norm Theory," and "Korean Language Education Theory and Korean Language Teaching Theory."
