US Central Command: "Airstrikes to Degrade Iran's Ability to Attack Ships in Hormuz"

The U.S. military carried out additional airstrikes against Iran on July 12 (local time), targeting Iranian forces that threatened civilian vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter) that "beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern Time, we launched additional airstrikes to continue degrading Iran's ability to attack civilian mariners and commercial ships freely transiting the Strait of Hormuz."
The airstrikes began at 6 a.m. KST on July 13. CENTCOM further stated, "The Commander-in-Chief ordered the airstrikes to hold Iranian forces accountable," making it clear that these attacks were carried out under the directive of U.S. President Donald Trump.
