Organized by the Yongin Special City Resident Autonomy Association, the event was designed to share the operational achievements of the resident autonomy centers with citizens and promote community unity.
The event was attended by Lee Sangil, Mayor of Yongin Special City, Shin Jaehyup, President of the Yongin Special City Resident Autonomy Association, Jang Jeongsun, Chairperson of the Yongin Special City Council, city council members, and resident autonomy committee members from each town, township, and neighborhood.
Mayor Lee toured each of the exhibition and experience booths set up by the resident autonomy centers from 30 towns, townships, and neighborhoods, greeting citizens along the way. After viewing residents’ works in various fields such as painting, calligraphy, hand lettering, and pottery, he remarked, "The quality is so high that these could stand proudly anywhere in Korea."
Mayor Lee expressed his gratitude, stating, "I appreciate the Yongin Special City Resident Autonomy Association for providing a platform where students at the resident autonomy centers can showcase their dreams and talents." He added, "As I visited every booth and greeted citizens, I saw firsthand that the students’ skills are outstanding and would be impressive anywhere in Korea. I hope that through resident autonomy center programs, citizens will continue to nurture their dreams, pursue happiness, and improve their health."
Mayor Lee continued, "Starting next year, the city’s tax revenue is projected to increase significantly, so we will expand support for resident autonomy centers as well. We will also work to implement free influenza vaccinations for all citizens as early as next year, and gradually realize plans to reduce village bus intervals and expand the road network."
