With the organizing committee opening all matches of the World Taekwondo Culture Festival free of charge, families and domestic and international tourists flocked to the venue over the weekend.
Dynamic Taekwondo is a performance discipline that goes beyond sparring and poomsae, combining taekwondo demonstrations with music, lighting, and stage direction. It is Korea's premier performance-style taekwondo competition, where participants are ranked based on a comprehensive evaluation of aerial spinning kicks, high-difficulty board breaks, and group choreography.
This year's competition featured six prestigious taekwondo universities from across the country, including last year's champion Kyung Hee University, as well as Yong In University, Kyungmin University, Baekseok University, Keimyung University, and Kosin University. The event showcased spectacular aerial techniques, precise board-breaking, and highly polished group performances, creating an electrifying atmosphere in the arena.
After intense competition, Yong In University claimed the championship, Kyungmin University finished as runner-up, and Kyung Hee University placed third.
To ensure the safety of athletes and spectators during the heatwave, the organizing committee operated air conditioning facilities and rest areas inside the venue. In addition, a city tour shuttle bus service connected major tourist attractions such as the Samaksan Lake Cable Car, Myeongdong, Pungmul Market, and the Soyanggang Skywalk with the competition venue, enhancing transportation convenience.
The World Taekwondo Culture Festival will continue its festive mood with an official welcome ceremony on July 14. The ceremony will feature an AI media facade performance utilizing the Air Dome and a celebratory performance by singer Kim Yeonja.
