The Democratic Party of Korea leadership candidates continued their efforts to win the support of party members by visiting various regions on Saturday, July 11.
Former Prime Minister Kim Minseok met with party members at the Yongin-gap district committee in Gyeonggi Province on the same day and said, "For the past three years, I have worked closely with President Lee Jaemyung, and since we have designed state affairs together, our philosophical perspectives are quite similar. Right now, I am the one who can provide the strongest support."
Former Prime Minister Kim added, "Although we won the June 3 local elections arithmetically, it wasn't a completely satisfying victory, and in certain situations, the party approval ratings are shown to be overtaken by the People Power Party. We are being criticized as a rebel force, but if we fall behind in approval ratings and lose, can that be acceptable?"

Looking back, I understand why that happened. The party convention is an intense debate to set the right course."
Former leader Chung Cheongrae appealed for support through social media. On Facebook, Chung wrote, "The person who will stand by President Lee Jaemyung until the end is Chung Cheongrae. Do not worry." He continued, "I am the right person to achieve 'integration of the four presidents (Kim Daejung, Roh Moohyun, Moon Jaein, and Lee Jaemyung)' within the party, as well as integration, solidarity, and a broad democratic progressive alliance outside the party. Victory in the general election and the recreation of the administration through a broad progressive alliance—Chung Cheongrae is the one to trust."
In another post, Chung stated, "The sovereignty of the Republic of Korea belongs to the people, and all power comes from the people. The party leadership of the Democratic Party belongs to its members, and all party authority comes from the members. I will only follow the will of the people and the party. Please protect Chung Cheongrae with your one vote as a party member."
Representative Song Younggil, who declared his candidacy for party leader in Gwangju, Jeonnam, on July 9, has been focusing on winning the hearts of voters in the Honam region for the third consecutive day. In Iksan, Jeonbuk, Song held a meeting with the traditional market association and met with citizens, followed by a town hall meeting with rights-holding party members at Wonkwang University.
Song stated, "Our party cannot afford to waste the precious four years of President Lee Jaemyung. How we utilize this period depends on what we do. I will provide all possible support at the National Assembly level."
