Securing a Logistics Hub in Northern Vietnam... Busan Port Authority to Build Logistics Center Behind Haiphong Port
BPA and Dongbang Sign Joint Venture Agreement,
Opening Scheduled for First Half of Next Year
Busan Port is accelerating its entry into the rapidly growing logistics market in northern Vietnam. Busan Port Authority has established an overseas logistics hub in the industrial complex behind Haiphong Port, expanding its global logistics network that connects Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
Busan Port Authority (BPA, President Song Sanggeun) announced on July 11 that it had signed a joint investment agreement on July 10 with Dongbang Vina, the Vietnamese subsidiary of Dongbang Co., Ltd. (President Jeong Woongeun), to jointly promote the operation project of the Haiphong Logistics Center.
This project is being carried out to build logistics infrastructure in Vietnam, in line with the government's “Global Logistics Supply Chain Hub Strategy” that was established in December last year.
The two parties plan to construct and operate a logistics center with a total floor area of 10,310 square meters on a 17,183 square meter site within the Deep C industrial complex, which is located behind Haiphong Port in Vietnam. Construction will begin after obtaining building permits in September, with the goal of opening in the first half of 2027. The operation period is set for approximately 30 years, until 2056.
The Deep C industrial complex, where the logistics center will be built, is the largest industrial complex in northern Vietnam and currently houses more than 160 global companies. There are also 26 Korean electronics and manufacturing companies, including LG Electronics, located there. The complex is about 15 kilometers from Haiphong Port and Lach Huyen Deep Sea Port. Its excellent access to highways connecting Hanoi and the Chinese border makes it a key logistics hub in northern Vietnam.
Busan Port Authority plans to use this logistics center to support the export and import logistics of Korean small and medium-sized enterprises operating in Vietnam, and to further strengthen its overseas logistics network linked to Busan Port.
Once this project is completed, Busan Port Authority’s overseas logistics hubs will increase to five locations, including Rotterdam in the Netherlands, Barcelona in Spain, Probolinggo in Indonesia, and Los Angeles in the United States. This is expected to further expand the global logistics network connecting Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia.
