The 10th Goyang Special City Council has completed the election of its chairperson for the first half of the term and has officially begun its four-year legislative activities.
On July 10, the Goyang Special City Council in Gyeonggi Province convened the 3rd plenary session of its 305th extraordinary meeting and elected Assemblywoman Misu Kim as the chairperson for the first half of the two-year term.
The chairperson election was conducted by secret ballot, with all 34 council members present. Assemblywoman Misu Kim was elected as the chairperson for the first half of the 10th council, having received 32 votes.
In her inaugural address, the newly appointed Chairperson Misu Kim stated, "I stand here deeply mindful of the public’s expectations and solemn mandate for the 10th Goyang Special City Council," and added, "I will make this council one that listens to and responds most closely to the voices of our citizens."
Regarding the election process, Chairperson Kim expressed gratitude to her fellow council members, noting, "It is significant that all council members engaged in intense discussions and communication, ultimately uniting our intentions."
She further emphasized, "I will make active communication and coexistence the core values of council operation, creating a harmonious council that exemplifies cooperation rather than division," and added, "We will become a council trusted by the citizens, working together with the citizens."
Following the election of its chairperson, the 10th Goyang Special City Council will embark in earnest on legislative activities focused on public welfare.

The council plans to hold its 306th extraordinary session for five days from July 20 to 24, during which it will receive its first work report on overall municipal affairs. The council will review major policy issues of the newly launched 9th popularly elected administration and examine policy directions directly affecting the lives of citizens.
