Countdown Begins for Selection of Leading Districts for Redevelopment of Aging Planned Urban Areas in Daejeon
Final Consultation Underway with Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Announcement Expected After Mid-Month
Daejeon City's leading districts for the redevelopment of aging planned urban areas are expected to be announced in the middle of this month.
The outline of the selected districts has emerged, but it is reported that final consultations with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport remain.
Daejeon City designated 27 special maintenance zones (including the Songchon district), but by the application deadline of April 30, a total of 9 districts in the Dunsan district and 1 district each in the Songchon, Jungni, and Beopdong districts had submitted applications for the selection as leading districts for the redevelopment of aging planned cities.
Of the 27 special maintenance zones, a total of 10 districts, comprising 30,800 units, submitted applications. In the Dunsan district, 9 out of 17 special maintenance zones, accounting for 28,300 units, applied for the public contest.
In the Songchon, Jungni, and Beopdong districts, only 1 out of 10 special maintenance zones submitted an application, accounting for 2,500 units.
The Dunsan district applicants are as follows: ▲District 1 (Sangnoksoo, Sanga, Chowon, Gangbyeon) 3,899 units ▲District 7 (Hyangchon, Parangsae) 2,056 units ▲District 8 (Eunchorong, Kkumnamu, Saemmeori 1, Saemmeori 2, Dungji) 5,440 units ▲District 9 (Sujeong Town) 2,010 units ▲District 11 (Gukhwa Dongseong, Shindonga, Woosung, Life, Hanshin, Cheongsol, Garam) 5,150 units ▲District 13 (Mokryeon, Clover) 2,798 units ▲District 14 (Hangaram, Gongjak) 2,454 units ▲District 15 (Keunmaeul) 2,910 units ▲District 17 (Hanuri, Sanho, Gaenari) 1,618 units, making a total of 9 districts that have applied.
In the Songchon district, only District 6 (Boram, Samik Sowol) submitted an application, with 2,545 units.
The scale of districts to be selected this time is currently under final negotiation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, with 5,000 to 7,500 units from the Dunsan district and 2,000 to 3,000 units from the Songchon district.

Designation as a leading district grants various special privileges, such as exemption from safety inspections and integrated reviews, thereby shortening project timelines. This will be followed by the formation of a promotion committee and establishment of an association before full-scale redevelopment begins.
