KNS Wins 3.5 Billion Won Order for Cylindrical Battery Equipment
As cylindrical batteries gain attention as the primary battery form factor for major humanoids, KNS, a leading company specializing in unmanned automation for advanced industries, is set to supply automated cylindrical battery Current Interrupt Device (CID) systems.
On July 10, KNS announced that it had signed a supply contract worth approximately 3.5 billion won with Zhongrui Electronics, a global secondary battery component manufacturer, for automated cylindrical battery CID systems.
The CID is a core safety component applied to cylindrical batteries, designed to cut off current when abnormal internal pressure is detected, thereby reducing the risk of fire and explosion. KNS holds unrivaled technological expertise in the field of CID automation equipment and commands a 75% share of the domestic market.
Zhongrui Electronics supplies a variety of key battery components to cell makers both in Korea and internationally. In 2024, KNS strengthened its partnership by establishing Zhongrui Korea, a joint venture with Zhongrui Electronics in Korea.
The battery industry is focusing on the possibility that cylindrical batteries will be adopted as the primary battery form factor for major humanoids. This is fueling expectations that a new investment cycle in core cylindrical battery components and automation equipment may begin in earnest.
