The DK Safety and Environment Specialized Training is a regular program established by Dongkuk Steel to enhance company-wide safety, health, and environmental management by strengthening the competencies of staff in safety, environmental, and ISO responsibilities. Training is provided not only at the headquarters, but also in Incheon, Pohang, Dangjin, and the research institute, as well as at group affiliates such as Intergis, Dongkuk Systems, and Ferrum Infra. Last year, a total of 27 participants completed the basic course.
The advanced course covers the prevention and management of serious accidents, identification of risks related to integrated environmental permits, preparation for ISO audits, and practical exercises using the D-SaFe (Safety and Environment Integrated Information System) across the fields of safety, environment, and ISO.
This year’s program was particularly meaningful as it invited Kim Jaehwan, President of the Korea Institute of Safety Management, to deliver lectures and included practical sessions on AI-based serious accident prevention, thereby sharing the latest trends in safety management in the era of artificial intelligence.
Going forward, Dongkuk Steel plans to gradually expand the training to all in-house managers and supervisors responsible for safety and environmental management. The company will also broaden the scope to include external subcontractors and suppliers.
