Major champion HyeRan Yoo has set the stage for back-to-back major victories.
On July 10 (Korean time), at the Evian Resort Golf Club (par 71, 6,479 yards) in Evian-les-Bains, France, Yoo competed in the first round of the Amundi Evian Championship, the fourth major of the women's golf season with a total prize money of 9.1 million dollars. She recorded seven birdies and two bogeys, finishing with a 5-under-par 66. Yoo is tied for third place with Jinhee Lim, Mao Saigo (Japan), Charley Hull (England), and Maja Stark (Sweden).

She added another birdie on the 3rd hole (par 4) in the back nine, briefly taking the lead, but consecutive bogeys on the 8th and 9th holes were disappointing. She showcased powerful drives, averaging 271 yards, and displayed impressive shot accuracy, missing only two fairways and three greens. Having won the KPMG Women's PGA Championship two weeks ago, Yoo now has an opportunity to win consecutive major tournaments.
Aki Iwai (Japan) delivered a flawless performance, collecting eight birdies without a single bogey. She leads the field by two strokes with an 8-under-par 63. Iwai debuted on the LPGA Tour last year and has claimed one victory at the Portland Classic. Minjee Kang is tied for eighth place (4-under-par 67), while Somi Lee and Chella Choi are tied for 15th (3-under-par 68). Hyo Joo Kim, Sei Young Kim, Yoon Ina, and Lydia Ko (New Zealand) finished the first round tied for 20th (2-under-par 69).

Hyejin Choi, Arim Kim, Mi Hyang Lee, and Hee Young Yang are tied for 35th (1-under-par 70), while Yumin Hwang is tied for 69th (1-over-par 72). World No. 1 Nelly Korda (USA), who is aiming to win all four major tournaments, had two birdies, three bogeys, and one double bogey. She dropped to a tie for 102nd (3-over-par 74), putting her at risk of missing the cut.
