Kyungmin Lee, a researcher at Daishin Securities, analyzed, "Today, the domestic stock market opened higher on the back of bargain-hunting in the semiconductor sector, but ongoing noise from the Middle East and market volatility led to directionless swings throughout the session."
He explained, "In the U.S. market the previous day, the recently battered semiconductor sector rebounded on bargain-hunting, which improved investor sentiment for the domestic semiconductor sector and led to a strong start. However, ongoing negative factors surrounding the semiconductor industry and mounting pressure for profit-taking caused retail investors to become net sellers on a large scale, resulting in a retracement of earlier gains and another spike in volatility during the session."

He added, "Uncertainty related to the Middle East also acted as a downward pressure on the stock market. Although U.S. President Donald Trump stated the previous day that he would not restart the war with Iran, the U.S. military announced today that it struck 90 targets in an additional airstrike against Iran, and there were mixed reports such as Iran reaching out again to express willingness to negotiate, prolonging the uncertainty."
