Gumi City Gets Green Light for First General Industrial Complex with Central Investment Review Approval
Completion Targeted for 2030
Attracting High-Tech Companies and Creating 1,600 New Jobs Expected
The development project for the Jangcheon General Industrial Complex in Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, has passed the central investment review by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, laying the groundwork for full-scale implementation.
The city plans to push forward with the project, aiming for completion by 2030, starting this month with an application for industrial complex plan approval. Subsequent procedures will include an environmental impact assessment and consultations with relevant agencies.
The Jangcheon General Industrial Complex is a 960,000-square-meter industrial park being developed by Gumi Urban Corporation in the Jangcheon-myeon area.
The main goal is to supply customized industrial land for high-tech companies in response to the opening of the new Daegu-Gyeongbuk airport era.
It will be fostered as a future industrial hub, linked to the semiconductor-specialized complex and the defense industry innovation cluster within the existing Gumi National Industrial Complex, as well as the new airport.
Upon completion, the project is expected to generate a production induction effect of approximately 290 billion won and create over 1,600 new jobs.
The excellent transportation network, connecting the Gasan Interchange and National Routes 25 and 67, is also expected to enhance competitiveness in attracting companies.
Gumi Mayor Kim Jang-ho said, "Passing the central investment review marks an important turning point for establishing Gumi's first general industrial complex," adding, "We will create an industrial park that attracts companies and becomes a new growth engine for the local economy."
