Actress Youn Yuh-jung has been nominated for an Emmy Award.

Netflix 'The Angry People 2' Still Cut.

The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS) announced the nominees for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards on July 8 (local time). Youn Yuh-jung was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for her role as Chairman Park, the country club owner, in Netflix's “Angry People” Season 2. Her role, in which she made a special appearance as the older wife in an age-gap couple alongside Song Kang-ho, drew significant attention.

Having previously won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for the film “Minari” in 2021, if she secures the Emmy, she will become an actress who has earned trophies at both the top film and television awards. So far, the only Korean actor to win an Emmy is Lee Jung-jae (Outstanding Lead Actor) from “Squid Game.” Broadening the scope to actors of Korean descent, there are two: Steven Yeun, who starred in Season 1 of “Angry People,” and Lee Jung-jae.

“Angry People” Season 2 received nominations in numerous categories this year. In addition to Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, considered the equivalent of Best Picture, it was also nominated for Lead Actress (Carey Mulligan), Lead Actor (Oscar Isaac), Supporting Actor (Charles Melton), as well as major categories such as Outstanding Casting, Contemporary Costumes, Directing, and Editing.

Among them, Charles Melton, nominated for Supporting Actor, is of mixed Korean descent. Director Lee Sung-jin, who helmed the series, is also Korean American. “Angry People” Season 1 previously swept eight awards, including Best Picture and both Lead Actor and Actress awards.
