Square Achieves Most Awards Among Korean Law Firms at "Asia-Pacific Awards 2026"
Winner in Five Categories, Including Labor Law Firm of the Year
Law firm Square announced on July 8 that it received the highest number of awards among domestic law firms at the "Asia-Pacific Awards 2026," hosted by the dispute resolution and litigation evaluation agency Benchmark Litigation.
At this awards ceremony, Square was selected as the winner in a total of five categories, including Labor Law Firm of the Year, Korea Lawyer of the Year, and Korea Law Firm of the Year based on client feedback.
First, Square was named Labor Law Firm of the Year in the professional field awards segment, where one leading law firm from the Asia-Pacific region is selected for each of 11 specialist categories. Square's Labor Group was highly recognized for representing the world’s largest tire manufacturer and achieving a victory at the Supreme Court level against significant claims of illegal dispatch, as well as successfully resolving disciplinary procedures and authority-related matters for another global automobile manufacturer.
In the Korea Lawyer of the Year category, attorney Lee Taeyeob (Judicial Research and Training Institute 28th class) was selected as the winner. Attorney Lee is responsible for criminal defense and general litigation at Square, leveraging his experience in special investigations, finance, taxation, and intellectual property accumulated during his tenure as a prosecutor. In particular, he has demonstrated strong expertise in handling major corporate criminal matters, including finance, trade secrets, and serious industrial accidents.
Square also received the Influential Matter of the Year award for its work on HSBC Bank’s criminal case involving short selling, where the firm secured a not-guilty verdict by eliciting a rational interpretation of the Capital Markets Act from the court. In addition, Square was named Korea Law Firm of the Year in the client feedback-based Client Choice Awards, and foreign attorney Kim Minhoo was recognized as Korea Outstanding Lawyer of the Year based on client evaluations.
The Benchmark Litigation Asia-Pacific Awards, announced annually by Benchmark Litigation, recognize noteworthy dispute cases and the law firms representing them in the Asia-Pacific region, based on submitted materials and research including interviews with litigation experts.
