Innovation Through the Convergence of AI and Nanotechnology
'Nano Korea 2026', an event that offers a comprehensive view of the present and future of nanotechnology, is being held at Exhibition Hall 1 of KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province from July 8 to July 10, spanning three days.
Park Inkyu, Director of the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau at the Ministry of Science and ICT, and Choi Sujin, Member of the National Assembly (member of the National Assembly Science, Technology, Information, Broadcasting and Communications Committee), visited the exhibition hall at the opening ceremony of Nano Korea 2026 held at KINTEX in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the morning of the 8th. The event serves as a platform for sharing global research trends in nanotechnology and introducing cutting-edge nanotechnologies and products, facilitating collaboration and exchange between the research and industrial sectors. With the theme 'Nano × AI Creating the Future,' more than 1,200 researchers and over 400 companies from both Korea and abroad are participating in this year’s event.
The opening ceremony featured an awards presentation recognizing researchers and companies from academia, industry, and research institutes who have contributed to innovation in nanotechnology research and the advancement of the nanoconvergence industry. In the research category, Professor Jin Young Kim of Seoul National University was awarded the Prime Minister's Award, while in the industry category, New Horizon received the Prime Minister's Award.
During the afternoon keynote lectures, renowned scholar Professor Ju Li from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology gave a presentation on 'The Future of Artificial Intelligence and Scientific Research,' and Sangyeob Park, Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of LG CNS, spoke on 'The Future of Physical AI-Based Nano and Advanced Industries.'
At the conference, global experts such as Professor Sergei Kalinin of the University of Tennessee, Professor Jin Ho Ahn of Hanyang University, and Director Zhong Lin Wang of the Chinese Academy of Sciences will deliver keynote addresses. On the final day of the event, Professor Hongje Jang of Kwangwoon University will give a lecture on 'The Space Industry and the Future of Chemistry,' and a nano experiment program for young students will also take place.
The exhibition features participation from 401 companies and institutions from eight countries, including Samsung Electronics and LG Group, operating a total of 674 booths. This year, one-on-one business meetings with overseas buyers and investors are also being held.
