Mayor Yoom Younghyun of Sancheong County Visits Central Government Departments, Launches Full-Scale Efforts to Secure National Funding
Proposal to Include Seven Key Projects in the National Budget
Covering Roads, Disaster Prevention, and the Korean Medicine Industry
Yoom Younghyun, Mayor of Sancheong County, has launched efforts to secure government funding by visiting central government departments to advocate for major pledges of the 9th popularly elected administration and key regional projects.
On July 8, the county announced that Mayor Yoom visited the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, where he explained the necessity of the region's core projects and requested their inclusion in the national budget.
At the Ministry of Economy and Finance, he emphasized the need for government funding for seven projects with a total project cost of 269.4 billion won.

View original imageThe projects include: ▲ Four-lane expansion of National Route 20 between Sicheon and Danseong (119.3 billion won), ▲ Realignment of National Route 59 between Sancheong and Chahwang (68.8 billion won), ▲ Comprehensive Flood Risk Management Project in the Sancheong District (36.8 billion won), ▲ Disaster Risk Improvement Project for Gankong 1 District (18.7 billion won), ▲ Expansion of rural sewage facilities in Naegong District (13.9 billion won), ▲ Construction of a public GMP facility for medicinal herbs (10 billion won), and ▲ Establishment of the Daewonsa Buddhist Art Experience Center (1.9 billion won).
Sancheong County requested support to ensure that the National Route 20 and National Route 59 projects are included in the 6th National Road and National Support Road Construction Plan.
The county explained that the National Route 20 project is necessary to promote tourism in the Jirisan region and strengthen disaster response, while the National Route 59 project aims to improve transportation safety and enhance accessibility to the Hwangmaesan tourism area.
In addition, Sancheong County requested government support for the Comprehensive Flood Risk Management Project in the Sancheong District and the Disaster Risk Improvement Project for Gankong 1 District, emphasizing that these are disaster prevention projects intended to prevent recurring flood damage caused by heavy rainfall.
With regard to the construction of the public GMP facility for medicinal herbs, the county explained that it is a project aimed at fostering the Korean medicine and anti-aging industries and establishing a production base for medicinal herbs, and requested government support.
During his subsequent visit to the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Mayor Yoom called for expanded government support for the pilot project on basic income for rural communities, a pledge of the 9th popularly elected administration, and emphasized the need for national-level support to address local depopulation and revitalize rural areas.
Mayor Yoom stated, "We will continue to work closely with central government departments to ensure that the region's key projects are reflected in the national budget."
Sancheong County plans to continue efforts to secure national and provincial funding for regional projects by engaging with central government departments, the National Assembly, and Gyeongsangnam-do.
