Genian CEO Lee Dongbum Awarded Order of Civil Merit, Pomegranate Medal, for Contributions to Information Security
Genian, a cybersecurity specialist company, announced on July 8 that CEO Lee Dongbum has been awarded the Order of Civil Merit, Pomegranate Medal, a government honor, at the 15th Information Security Day Commemoration Ceremony.
CEO Lee received the medal in recognition of his contributions to the development of the domestic information security industry, including creating import substitution effects based on homegrown security technologies and enhancing the security level of key national facilities.
Since founding Genian in 2005, CEO Lee has developed and supplied a variety of security solutions based on purely domestic technology, including Network Access Control (NAC), Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), and Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA). The company recorded annual sales of 48.4 billion won in 2025 and has maintained profitability for 21 consecutive years since its establishment.
He has also been active in promoting industry development. CEO Lee served as the 15th and 16th president of the Korea Information Security Industry Association (KISIA) for four years, acting as a communication channel between the government and the industry and working to improve regulations and systems.
He contributed to strengthening national cybersecurity as well. Genian supplied NAC solutions to major national agencies to help build internal security systems and developed software for the "Cybersecurity Self-Inspection Day" used by public institutions, providing it free of charge to public and educational institutions nationwide.
He has also been proactive in nurturing talent and expanding employment. The company has continued to hire approximately 10% new employees annually, contributing to job creation, and has been running joint research and internship programs with major universities to foster practical information security professionals.
