S-Oil Donates 285 Million Won to Protect Endangered Natural Monuments
A Total of 3.98 Billion Won Provided Over 18 Years
S-Oil, in collaboration with the Cultural Heritage Administration, delivered 285 million won in sponsorship funds on July 8 at its headquarters auditorium in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The funds were provided to environmental organizations including the Korea Otter Protection Association, the Korea Freshwater Fish Conservation Association, the Natural Monument Insect Research Institute, and the Korea Reeves' Turtle Protection Association to support the protection of endangered natural monuments.
This sponsorship will be used for the protection and research activities of five endangered natural monument species—otters, red-crowned cranes, Korean perch, longhorn beetles, and Reeves' turtles—as well as for the operation of a university student natural monument guardian group and volunteer activities for employees and their families.
On the same day, an inauguration ceremony was held for 40 university students who will participate in the 'Natural Monument Guardian Group' and contribute to natural heritage conservation activities.
Since 2008, S-Oil has continuously supported activities to protect natural monuments, taking the lead in biodiversity conservation and environmental protection. Major initiatives include supporting research on endangered natural monuments, operating the university student guardian group, organizing volunteer activities for employees and their families, and running natural monument educational programs for children from low-income families. Over the past 18 years, the company has provided a total of 3.98 billion won in support.
