YG Publishes Sustainability Performance Report Detailing BLACKPINK's Carbon Footprint
First Entertainment Company in Korea to Implement in 2024
YG Entertainment published its "2026 Sustainability Performance Report" on July 8, detailing the company's achievements in applying environmental and social responsibility (ESG) principles to concert planning and operations.
In 2024, YG became the first entertainment company in Korea to declare a commitment to sustainable concerts, establishing seven major frameworks including greenhouse gas management, concert venue safety, and reduction of environmental pollution. This report presents an interim assessment of the second phase (2025–2027) of the "2030 Sustainable Concert Roadmap," which focuses on on-site implementation.
The core of the initiative is data-driven structural improvement. YG applied these standards to key performances of BLACKPINK's world tour "DEADLINE," which began in 2025. By conducting on-site monitoring in eight cities including London, Singapore, and Hong Kong, YG developed its own "Sustainable Concert Venue Standard." Drawing on global MICE industry guidelines, YG plans to use this standard as the foundation for establishing a sustainable standardization system across the concert industry in the future.
Since BLACKPINK's Seoul concert in 2023, YG has measured the carbon footprint related to audience mobility at 12 performances by artists such as TREASURE, BABYMONSTER, and AKMU. The cumulative number of participants reached 34,755. YG has strengthened waste management by assigning dedicated personnel, and has taken steps to reduce carbon emissions such as utilizing the P-REC renewable energy certification system and producing sterilized-packaged bottled water.
YG is also working to improve accessibility for concertgoers. The company has assigned dedicated staff according to types of disabilities and introduced real-time text interpretation services. Starting this year, YG entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the social welfare foundation Tatteuthan Donghaeng to jointly promote the barrier-free concert project "Universal Stage."
