Gyeonggi Province Activates 'Emergency Level 1' on July 8... Heavy Rain Expected Through July 10
As heavy rainfall is forecasted to hit the entire Gyeonggi Province through the morning of July 10, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government activated Emergency Level 1 at 5 a.m. on July 8.
Under Emergency Level 1, the head of the Natural Disaster Response Team will act as the chief of situation management, with 23 public officials from departments related to storm and flood response—such as the Forest and Greenery Division, Road Safety Division, and River Division—as well as 12 situation rooms from key departments, bringing the total number of personnel on duty to 35. They will monitor heavy rain conditions and any damage occurring in each city and county, and provide on-site support as needed.
In response to this rainfall, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, together with local municipalities, will implement intensive management of vulnerable facilities. This includes: ▲proactively controlling and monitoring riverside walkways during rain and weather advisories, ▲immediately restricting access and evacuating people in the event of flooding in underground parking lots or semi-basement homes, and ▲conducting inspections of storm drains, reservoirs, landslide-prone areas, and steep slopes.
