Heo Jin-ho's "Assassin(s)" Invited to Toronto International Film Festival Gala Section
"A Dynamic Story from One of Our Most Beloved Directors"
Distributor Hive Media Corp. announced on July 8 that director Heo Jin-ho's "Assassin(s)" has been invited to the Gala section of the Toronto International Film Festival.
Cameron Bailey, Executive Director of the Toronto International Film Festival, shared the news of the invitation, saying, "Heo Jin-ho, one of our most beloved directors, has dynamically depicted a shocking event in Korean history. The performances led by Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il, and Lee Min-ho are also outstanding."
This section has previously featured films such as "No Other Choice," "Harbin," "A Normal Family," "Concrete Utopia," "Smugglers," and "Hunt." Director Heo Jin-ho has now been invited to this section for the third time, following "Dangerous Liaisons" in 2012 and "A Normal Family" in 2023.
"Assassin(s)" follows the suspicions and the hidden forces behind the attempted assassination of the First Lady on August 15, 1974. It was produced by Hive Media Corp., which also made "12.12: The Day" and "The Man Standing Next," and features cinematographer Lee Mo-gae, lighting director Lee Seong-hwan, art director Kim Byung-han, and VFX supervisor Jeong Jae-hoon. The film is scheduled for release in Korea during this year's Chuseok holiday.
