Fake Crypto Exchange Sites on the Rise... DAXA Urges Users to Exercise Caution
The Digital Asset Exchange Alliance (DAXA) announced on July 8 that phishing websites impersonating domestic won-based exchanges are being distributed through advertisements on social networking services (SNS) such as Facebook, urging users to exercise heightened caution.
According to DAXA, when users click on SNS advertisements, they are directed to websites designed to closely resemble domestic won-based exchanges. These sites encourage users to install programs with phrases such as "No transaction fees when installing the PC-only program." DAXA pointed out that, since domestic won-based exchanges do not provide separate PC-based trading programs to users, such installation requests are highly likely to be scams.
To prevent fraudulent damage, DAXA recommended: ▲ accessing exchanges directly via their official websites rather than through SNS advertisements, ▲ immediately stopping if prompted to install a PC program, ▲ being wary of advertisements offering excessive benefits such as free transaction fees, ▲ never downloading executable files (APK, EXE, etc.) from unknown sources, and ▲ promptly reporting suspicious websites to the customer service center of the relevant exchange or to the appropriate authorities.
