View original imageAccording to industry sources on July 6, Samsung Electronics announced the Target Achievement Incentive (TAI) payout rate for the first half of this year through its internal network on this day. The DS division will receive the highest half-yearly bonus, benefiting from increased supply of high bandwidth memory (HBM) driven by the artificial intelligence (AI) investment boom and rising prices of general-purpose DRAM. The payment date is scheduled for July 8.
TAI is one of Samsung Electronics' performance-based compensation systems. It evaluates business results twice a year, in the first and second halves, and pays a differentiated bonus of up to 100% of the monthly base salary by combining the evaluation results of each business division and department.
By business division, the Memory Business Unit has been allocated the maximum 100% TAI, continuing from the second half of last year. The System LSI and Foundry Business Units will receive 75%, while the Semiconductor Research Center, SAIT (formerly Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology), and common organizations will also receive 100%.
In contrast, the Device Experience (DX) division, which is responsible for mobile and home appliances, has been assigned a relatively lower payout rate. The Visual Display (VD) Business Unit will receive 50%, and the Digital Appliances (DA) Business Unit will receive 25%. Notably, the Mobile Experience (MX) Business Unit, which oversees smartphones, will receive only 50%—down from 75% in the second half of last year—despite strong sales of the flagship Galaxy S26 series launched in the first half of this year. This is due to increased component costs resulting from the sharp rise in memory prices. In addition, the Medical Device Business Unit and Korea Headquarters will receive 75%, while the Network Business Unit and Corporate Management Support and others will receive 50%.
