Special Awards for 17 Achievements Recognized by the Public
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on July 5 that it selected a total of 17 achievements under the 1st Special Achievement Awards for Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The system, introduced for the first time this year to reward employees based on their work performance and to foster a performance-oriented culture in the public sector, recognized 81 individuals in total.
Six officials, including Lee Mirae, Deputy Director of the Metropolitan Transportation Economy Division at the Metropolitan Area Transportation Commission, received 15 million won in recognition of achieving 5 million users for the "Modeu Card," a card that provides fare refunds for those who meet certain public transportation usage criteria. The introduction of the fixed-rate public transportation fare refund method and the improvement of user convenience were acknowledged. Four officials, including Kim Hyunseok from the Charter Fraud Victim Support Team, received 15 million won for their efforts in supporting the swift recovery of victims. Seven officials, including Shim Donghui from the Railway Operations Division, received the same prize for laying the groundwork to resolve the shortage of railway seats, such as through the cross-operation of KTX and SRT trains.

For six initiatives—improving regulations on parking robots (two officials including Jung Soyoung from the Everyday Transportation Welfare Division), preventing wage arrears at construction sites (three officials including Moon Chaebin from the Fair Construction Support Division), reorganizing the housing supply system (ten officials including Lee Sumin from the Housing Supply Policy Division), providing financial support for overseas investment and development projects (five officials including Lee Sanggoh from the Overseas Construction Policy Division), improving the real estate system (eleven officials including Lee Yuri, Director of the Housing Policy Division), and reducing fatalities in construction accidents (four officials including Kim Taehyung from the Construction Safety Division)—each team received 5 million won. In addition, four initiatives received 3 million won each: redesigning the application areas for the 40-hour workweek for corporate taxis (four officials including Shin Jaeyoung from the Transport Service Policy Division), designating zones requiring foreign land transaction permits (two officials including Lee Youngjoo from the Land Policy Division), devising measures for the prompt supply of purchase-type rental housing (three officials including Park Byungkwan from the Housing Welfare Support Division), and improving the process for handling civil petitions to locate inherited land (four officials including Jeon Woojin from the National Spatial Information Center).
