China has reaffirmed its intention to send a government delegation to the funeral of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, expressing its condolences and reiterating its commitment to continuously develop bilateral relations. China also stated that it hopes for Iran's swift restoration of security and regional stability.
According to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 5, He Wei, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, attended Khamenei's funeral in Tehran as the Chinese government representative. During the event, he met with President Masoud Pezeshkian and Parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf to convey the Chinese government's condolences.
Vice Chairman He stated, "China deeply mourns the passing of Supreme Leader Khamenei and sincerely extends condolences to the Iranian government, people, and bereaved family," adding, "We hope that under the leadership of the new Supreme Leader Mojtaba, Iran will regain stability and continue its development."
He also emphasized, "Over the past 55 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations, the two countries' relationship has developed steadily. China's policy of friendship toward Iran remains unchanged, and we hope to further strengthen the comprehensive strategic partnership."
Regarding Middle East affairs, China positively evaluated the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran. Vice Chairman He expressed hope that both sides would faithfully implement existing agreements, maintain the ceasefire, and continue dialogue. He added that China hopes for the peaceful resolution of the Strait of Hormuz issue and for countries in the region to maintain amicable relations.
The Iranian side, according to China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, congratulated the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and expressed gratitude for China's decision to dispatch a high-level delegation to the funeral.

Iran also expressed appreciation for China's continued support and stated its support for Chinese President Xi Jinping's proposals on global development, security, civilization, and artificial intelligence (AI) governance. Iran further stated its intention to strengthen strategic communication and cooperation with China, ease regional tensions through political and diplomatic solutions, and resolve the Strait of Hormuz issue in accordance with international law.
