This program is organized in connection with the ongoing exhibition at Podo Museum, "We Are Such Small Beings." Dong Song has been a leading figure in Chinese contemporary art since the 1990s, exploring themes of memory, time, urban change, and conditions of everyday life through a diverse range of media including performance, installation, video, sculpture, and painting.
The exhibition features Dong Song's installation work, "Window Door Screen - Four Screens No. 2." Created between 2018 and 2019, the piece is composed of old windows, doors, glass, mirrors, acrylic mirrors, and hardware collected from the hutong neighborhoods of Beijing. By relocating traces of homes lost to urban development into the exhibition space, the work highlights the relationships between personal memory, urban history, and the interconnectedness of those living together.
During the talk, Dong Song will introduce his artistic world focusing on the representative "Windows" series. He will share with the audience his artistic interests shaped within the evolving landscape of Chinese contemporary art in the 1990s, the creative process, the research and background leading to his works, and his thoughts on the exhibition.
After the talk, there will be a Q&A session with the audience, commemorative photo opportunities, and an autograph signing. Registration is available via Naver Reservation, and if seats remain, on-site participation will also be possible.
