"Becoming a Governing Party That Shapes the Future and Leads on Key Issues"
Kim Hyungnam, former secretary general of the Military Human Rights Center and former Democratic Party mayoral candidate for Seoul, announced on July 3 his candidacy for the Supreme Council at the August 17 National Party Convention, stating, "I will create a ruling party that moves the president forward, not a vested-interest party that sits back and simply benefits from the president's position."
On this day at the National Assembly Communication Hall, Kim said, "All reform agendas are starting from the president but stop in front of the Democratic Party leadership."

Kim further argued, "Rents are rising, the gap is widening, and jobs are decreasing. Meanwhile, trust in elections is being shaken, and conspiracy theories are flooding the social media feeds of young people." He emphasized, "We must focus the full capacity of the ruling party on solving these immediate problems happening right now."
