Large-Scale Discount Festival 'Korea Grand Festival' to Open at the End of October
Unprecedented Large-Scale Discounts on Everyday Essentials Closely Tied to Daily Life
The nationwide discount event, the 'Korea Grand Festival,' will be held this year starting from October 29. The event is expected to boost sales for small business owners through the largest-ever discounts and expanded consumer benefits.
On July 3, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced the '2026 Korea Grand Festival Promotion Plan' in a joint presentation with related ministries during an emergency economic headquarters meeting and an economic ministers' meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Koo Yooncheol.
The 'Korea Grand Festival,' recognized as a leading consumer event enjoyed by the entire nation, is designed as a discount festival with cooperation among manufacturing companies, online and offline distribution platforms, and both central and local governments. The event will run for 18 days, from October 29 to November 15.
To kick off the festival, a large-scale, cross-ministerial opening ceremony will be held, featuring K-pop performances to spur a nationwide consumption boom. During the festival, there will be unprecedented large-scale discounts on industrial goods such as automobiles, home appliances, and clothing, as well as on everyday essentials like agricultural, livestock, and fishery products for the kimchi-making season.
In addition, 70,000 accommodation coupons will be distributed in non-metropolitan areas, and the event will be actively linked with local festivals across the country to further stimulate regional tourism and consumption. Efforts will also be made to encourage visiting foreigners to shop in local commercial districts, thereby promoting local spending.
