Seongnam Mayor Shin Sangjin will take the stage at the United Nations (UN) to promote Seongnam City's future mobility and smart city policies to the world. This initiative aims to showcase the competitiveness of Seongnam as an advanced city to international organizations and global cities, and to broaden the foundation for cooperation in the fields of future transportation and urban innovation.

View original imageAccording to Seongnam City on July 3, Mayor Shin will depart for New York, United States, on July 4 to attend an official side event of the United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) held at the UN Headquarters. He will also pursue a series of collaborative meetings with international organizations and major New York City institutions.
On July 7, at the UN Headquarters, Mayor Shin will present future mobility policies and urban innovation cases that utilize advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous driving at an event themed "Monitoring Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Linking the UN Decade of Sustainable Transport Initiative." He is scheduled to announce the roles and vision of local governments in achieving the SDGs.
He will then hold high-level talks with the United Nations Centre for Regional Development (UNCRD) to discuss detailed plans and cooperation strategies for the successful hosting of the "17th Asia High-Level Meeting on Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum," which is scheduled to take place in Seongnam in 2027.
On July 8, he will visit Bloomberg Philanthropies, a globally renowned institution supporting urban innovation. Mayor Shin plans to discuss cooperation in the areas of urban innovation, strengthening public administration capabilities, and smart city development. In addition, he will introduce Seongnam City's policy for fostering advanced industries and smart city strategy, while exploring opportunities to expand participation in global urban innovation networks.
On July 9, Mayor Shin will visit the New York City Department of Transportation and the New York City Mayor’s Office to examine future transportation policies and data-driven administrative innovation. At the Department of Transportation, he will review policies related to autonomous driving, micromobility, and road operations and traffic safety based on transportation data. At the Mayor's Office, he will learn about data-based performance management systems, improvements to citizen services, and inter-agency collaboration systems, with the aim of applying these insights to Seongnam City's smart city policies and future mobility administration.
