At this exhibition, Hansol Paper is introducing Duracle, a natural thickener derived from pine trees that is both eco-friendly and biodegradable. Duracle can replace chemical thickeners used in cosmetics. Thickeners are core ingredients that determine the viscosity, formulation stability, and usability of cosmetics, and they help to evenly disperse and deliver various active ingredients.
Duracle is a natural material that aligns with the recent clean beauty trend in the cosmetics industry and is a functional ingredient with clinically proven moisturizing and UV protection performance. Hansol Paper has also become the first Korean paper company to obtain the globally recognized French vegan certification, EVE VEGAN, through Duracle.
As Korea’s leading paper company, Hansol Paper plans to accelerate its transformation into a comprehensive materials company, expanding beyond its traditional paper business by entering the beauty market with this initiative. The company explained that Duracle is an example of commercializing wood-based natural ingredients into high-value cosmetics materials, leveraging over 60 years of research and development (R&D) capability accumulated in the paper sector.
Hansol Paper is currently pursuing supply contracts for raw materials with major cosmetics brands both domestically and internationally, and plans to use this as a springboard to speed up its entry into the global cosmetics ingredient market.
