Mentions 'Structural Majority' Approach to Integration in Front of Moon
On July 1, President Lee Jae-myung, during his meeting with former President Moon Jae-in, outlined his vision for national unity, emphasizing the need to expand the political base by first solidifying internal cohesion within the ruling bloc. His approach prioritizes party unity, then broadening the scope of the democratic reform camp, and ultimately combining these efforts with policy achievements to establish a stable foundation for state governance.

Since we are in power, we must represent everyone and pursue politics and administration for all." He continued, "To do so, our internal foundation must be strong," adding, "On that basis, we must continue to broaden our political reach and build a structurally dominant majority."
His remarks were in response to former President Moon's suggestion that national unity should be a core task for the Lee Jae-myung administration. Earlier, former President Moon had said, "For the Lee Jae-myung administration to achieve greater accomplishments, national unity is essential," and emphasized, "Party unity is the starting point for national unity."
Former President Moon also called for unity not only within the Democratic Party but across the entire democratic reform camp. He remarked, "If the Democratic Party first achieves unity, the forces that joined together in the democratic reform camp and in the 'revolution of light' must unite even more strongly to win the hearts of the people." He further declared, "The only person in Korea today capable of achieving party unity, greater unity within the democratic reform camp, and national unity is President Lee Jae-myung," lending his support to the president.
In response, President Lee stressed that unity must be backed by tangible achievements, rather than being a mere slogan. He stated, "We need to consistently deliver results in order to earn the people's support; it cannot be achieved by words alone," expressing his intent to simultaneously pursue internal cohesion, broader outreach, and policy accomplishments.
President Lee also positioned his National Sovereignty Government as a continuation of the democratic administrations of Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, and Moon Jae-in. He said, "Our task is to add another layer atop the achievements of past democratic governments," and added, "We will further develop what has been successful, address what has been lacking, and take on new challenges."
