Boeing Appoints Dr. Jieun Koo as Director of Korea Engineering & Technology Center

Boeing announced on July 1 that Dr. Jieun Koo, an aerospace engineering expert, has been appointed as Director of the Boeing Korea Engineering & Technology Center (BKETC). Dr. Koo will oversee the strategy and operations of BKETC and lead the expansion of domestic engineering and technology capabilities.

View original imageDirector Koo has built a career spanning over 20 years in aerospace engineering and leadership. Most recently, she held two leadership roles in the 787 program, leading a complex organization that supported major structures, global supplier engineering integration, quality, and performance. Notably, she played a key role in the resumption of 787 deliveries in 2022.
She previously served as Deputy Chief Structures Engineer for the 777 and 777X programs, taking on leadership roles in product development, concept center, and stress analysis. In these positions, she was responsible for aircraft-level integration, certification, new technology development, and support for aircraft in operation.
Director Koo stated, "I will focus on further strengthening BKETC through close collaboration, technical excellence, and reliable execution," adding, "I look forward to working with our team in Korea to advance the center's foundation and support Boeing's long-term goals."
BKETC serves as Boeing's engineering and innovation center in Korea, accelerating the acquisition of advanced technologies by leveraging Korea's digital innovation ecosystem. The main research areas at BKETC include software engineering, artificial intelligence (AI), avionics, electronics and displays, data solutions, and digital engineering.
