Hansung-sook Prime Minister Nominee’s Hearing Report Adopted by Democratic Party-Led Committee... People Power Party Boycotts
Plenary Session Scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
The National Assembly's Special Committee on Personnel Hearings, led by the Democratic Party of Korea, adopted the progress report on the personnel hearing for Han Seongsuk, Prime Minister nominee, on June 30.
The report included a majority opinion deeming Han "qualified," but also contained minority opinions expressing disqualification. The People Power Party boycotted the meeting in protest of the bill's introduction.
The Democratic Party plans to put the approval of the appointment to a vote at the National Assembly plenary session scheduled for 5 p.m. on June 30.
According to the Personnel Hearings Act, if the National Assembly fails to complete the review or hearing within the designated period without justifiable reason, the Speaker of the National Assembly may refer the motion for appointment to the plenary session.

The motion for approval of the appointment of the Prime Minister is passed with the attendance of a majority of all members and the approval of more than half of those present. As the Democratic Party holds 161 seats, it is able to pass the motion on its own.
