KakaoBank Achieves Consecutive Successes in Financial AI Research with Four Papers Accepted at International Conferences
Recognition for Enhanced Safety and Finance-Specialized AI Performance
KakaoBank's research papers in the field of financial artificial intelligence (AI) have been consecutively accepted at world-renowned international academic conferences.
According to KakaoBank on June 30, the KakaoBank Financial Technology Research Institute had a total of four papers accepted at international AI conferences in the first half of this year, including the International Conference on Learning Representations (ICLR), the Association for Computational Linguistics (ACL), and the International Conference on Language Resources and Evaluation (LREC), which focuses on natural language processing.
This research focused on enhancing the safety of generative AI and improving the performance of finance-specialized AI. At ICLR 2026, held in April, KakaoBank presented a technology to detect harmful content injection and bypass attacks targeting generative AI models in specialized fields such as finance and law.
Subsequently, at LREC 2026, a leading international conference on natural language processing, language resources, and evaluation held in May, two studies were presented to enhance the security and accuracy of finance-specialized AI. These include a technology for detecting prompt attacks in multimodal environments with images, and another for identifying numerical calculation errors that can occur during complex financial data processing.
In addition, a research project jointly conducted with Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) was accepted for the industry track at ACL 2026. KakaoBank proposed an AI safety evaluation standard that systematically categorizes risk types such as voice phishing, financial fraud, and personal information theft that can occur in the financial sector. The company also developed and released a proprietary technology that enables financial AI models to learn to avoid providing dangerous responses on their own. This research will be presented at the conference to be held in the United States in July.
