HLB Peptide Signs Main CDMO Contract with Japan's PeptiGrowth... Accelerates Global Functional Peptide Market Expansion
On June 30, HLB Peptide announced that it has signed a main contract for contract development and manufacturing organization (CDMO) services with PeptiGrowth, a Japanese company specializing in peptides, to develop and produce next-generation functional peptides, thereby expanding its global business.
This contract follows the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed by the two companies at HLB Peptide's Gwangju headquarters last month. HLB Peptide explained that it finalized the contract after completing inspections of its production facilities and supplier verification procedures, laying the foundation for securing overseas clients.
Through this collaboration, the two companies will jointly work on process development and the establishment of a GMP-based manufacturing system for next-generation functional peptides used in cell culture for regenerative medicine and cell therapy. HLB Peptide will leverage its proprietary peptide synthesis and purification technologies to manufacture PeptiGrowth's functional peptides.
The scope of cooperation will be gradually expanded. The two companies plan to collaborate on the development of next-generation synthetic peptide growth factors and cytokines, the establishment of advanced peptide manufacturing processes, the construction of a GMP-based production system, and the enhancement of global supply capabilities.
HLB Peptide emphasized that this contract is especially significant as it has met the rigorous supplier verification standards required by Japanese biotech companies. The company explained that its advanced technologies for optimizing complex peptide processes, its experience in scaling up for mass production, and its GMP-compliant manufacturing infrastructure that meets global standards were key factors in building trust.
PeptiGrowth is a Japanese company specializing in the development of synthetic peptides that can replace existing growth factors. The company is developing technologies that address the limitations of recombinant protein-based growth factors in terms of stability, reproducibility, and productivity, and is expanding its business into various fields such as regenerative medicine, dermatology, aesthetics, and wound healing, based on its expertise in epidermal growth factor (EGF) technology.
HLB Peptide plans to accelerate the expansion of its global functional peptide CDMO business through this partnership. To this end, the company will work on increasing its production capacity, strengthening its global GMP production infrastructure, and advancing its quality management systems, with the goal of establishing itself as a key supplier in the global biomaterials market.
Kyungjae Shim, CEO of HLB Peptide, said, "As the regenerative medicine and cell therapy industries grow, demand for high-performance peptides is increasing rapidly," adding, "Through this contract, we will further enhance our differentiated CDMO competitiveness in the field of highly complex functional peptides, which require more advanced synthesis technologies than conventional peptides."
