A 49-story residential-commercial complex will be built at the site of the former Homeplus Sangdong branch in the heart of Sangdong, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi Province. Lotte Construction is developing the 'Sangdong Station Lotte Castle' in the Sangdong area of Wonmi-gu, Bucheon-si, with sales starting in July 2026.
According to Lotte Construction on June 30, the 'Sangdong Station Lotte Castle' will be constructed with 8 basement floors and 49 above-ground floors in 7 buildings, with exclusive areas ranging from 84 to 192 square meters. Out of a total of 1,859 units, 1,370 units—approximately 70%—will be 84 square meters in size. Three penthouses will also be included.

Using Line 7, residents can travel directly to the Gangnam business district without transfers. For drivers, nearby Jungdong Interchange (IC) provides convenient access to the Seoul Metropolitan Area 1st Circular Expressway and the Gyeongin Expressway.
The nearby Bucheon Sports Complex Station is planned to be served by the GTX (Greater Train Express) B and D lines. Construction has begun for GTX-B, and GTX-D has passed its preliminary feasibility study. When the B line opens, residents will be able to take Line 7 from Sangdong Station for four stops, transfer at Bucheon Sports Complex Station, and reach central Seoul destinations such as Yeouido or Seoul Station in about 20 minutes (based on train travel time). However, the actual travel time will depend on the opening schedule and transfer times.
The area surrounding the complex includes Hyundai Department Store, Lotte Department Store, Emart, NewCore Outlet, Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital, and Bucheon City Hall. Several schools, including Sangwon Elementary School, Sangil Elementary School, Sangil Middle School, and Sangil High School, are also nearby. The Sangdong Station area, which has the largest concentration of private academies in Bucheon, is adjacent as well.
The complex will feature amenities such as a swimming pool, fitness center, a study room with more than 140 seats, and a private dining room. Parking will accommodate 2,888 vehicles, which equates to 1.55 parking spaces per household. Some unit types will offer three-sided open balcony designs.
Large-scale development projects that are expected to transform the surrounding environment are also progressing rapidly. The city of Bucheon is pursuing a mixed-use development project in the Sangdong area near the complex, investing approximately 6.9 trillion won to construct a convergence center and a landmark tower on a 380,000-square-meter site. Groundbreaking is targeted for 2028.
Another project, which will begin construction next year, aims to place a 15.3-kilometer stretch of the Gyeongin Expressway—between Sinwol in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul and Cheongna in Seo-gu, Incheon, a section notorious for chronic congestion—underground. The new expressway will be built 30 meters below ground as a four-lane dual carriageway, with a total project cost of about 1.378 trillion won.
