Significant Extension of Survival Compared to Control Group in Animal Studies
Mokacyclip (mocaciclib·Q901), a CDK7 inhibitor anticancer drug developed by Curient, a company specializing in innovative drug development, has shown potential as a candidate for pediatric brain tumor treatment.
On the 30th, Curient announced that research findings on pediatric brain tumors using Mokacyclip were presented at the International Society for Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Symposium (ISPNO 2026), which was recently held in Sydney, Australia.

Professor Jean Mulcahy Levy of the University of Colorado delivered the presentation. Curient, the developer of Mokacyclip, was a joint participant in the research.
The study focused on medulloblastoma and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT), both of which are representative high-risk pediatric brain tumors. The research team highlighted that inhibiting CDK7, which is involved in the activation process of MYC—a transcriptional regulator that promotes cancer growth in these tumors—could suppress tumor growth.
In animal experiments, the group treated with Mokacyclip showed a significantly extended survival period compared to the control group. Notably, the tumor suppression effect was similar to that observed when CDK7 gene expression was directly blocked, confirming the efficacy of the targeted inhibition. Additionally, Mokacyclip reached the brain and central nervous system and demonstrated anticancer effects, with no significant side effects such as weight loss or blood abnormalities observed.
Based on these results, the research team also proposed a clinical investigator-led study to evaluate safety, appropriate dosage, and combination therapies targeting patients with recurrent pediatric brain tumors.
