Mirae Industries Secures New Asan Factory for 14.5 Billion Won... Expands Semiconductor Equipment Production Capacity to Over 560 Units
Mirae Industries is strengthening its global order response capabilities by securing a new factory in Asan to expand its semiconductor back-end process equipment production capacity.
Mirae Industries, a company specializing in semiconductor back-end process equipment, announced on June 29 that it has decided to purchase the land and buildings of a factory located in Sandong-ri, Eumbong-myeon, Asan-si, Chungcheongnam-do for 14.5 billion won.
The acquisition price is approximately 3.8 billion won lower than the initial appraised value of 18,281,530,000 won. The payment of the remaining amount and the transfer of ownership are scheduled to be completed by July 29.
This acquisition is a strategic investment to respond to rising customer demand amid the recent recovery in the global semiconductor market. Currently, Mirae Industries' Cheonan headquarters factory has reached virtually maximum utilization due to increased new orders, creating a need to expand production capacity.
With the acquisition of the Asan factory, Mirae Industries plans to add 360 new production lines to its existing Cheonan facility, which has an annual capacity of 200 units. As a result, the company’s total production capacity will exceed 560 units per year, resolving existing production bottlenecks and enabling faster responses to global customers' equipment supply requests.
Notably, the new Asan factory is located about 10 minutes by car from the Cheonan headquarters, providing high efficiency in both production and logistics. In addition, key infrastructure required for semiconductor equipment manufacturing—such as a Class 10,000 cleanroom, air conditioning systems, and temperature and humidity control facilities—are already in place, allowing for immediate production without the need for additional large-scale facility investments.
Mirae Industries plans to further advance its domestic production system by focusing on core processes such as final assembly and testing of semiconductor equipment at its Cheonan and Asan production bases. The Yongin factory will be gradually utilized after a comprehensive review of order volume and business environment.
A company representative stated, "Securing the new Asan factory is not simply an expansion of production facilities, but a strategic enhancement of our production base to prepare for future growth. By increasing our production capacity to about 2.8 times the previous level, we expect to respond more quickly to global customers’ delivery demands and strengthen our market competitiveness."
The representative added, "Based on our expanded production capacity, we will lay the foundation for acquiring global customers and achieving large-scale sales growth, while further strengthening our competitive edge in the semiconductor back-end process equipment market."
