Youngdo Kim, President of Dong-Eui Institute of Technology, has been re-elected as the 23rd President of the Korea Council for University College Education (KCCE).
The Korea Council for University College Education announced on the 29th that President Kim was successfully re-elected as the 23rd president, having secured a majority of votes from member university presidents during the '2026 President Seminar and Special General Assembly' held at the Park Hyatt Busan from June 25 to 26. His term will run from the date of approval by the Ministry of Education until September 4, 2028.
During his tenure as the 22nd president, President Kim has been recognized for expanding the policy foundation for university colleges and strengthening the competitiveness of higher vocational education through cooperation with the government, the National Assembly, and related institutions. He also played a leading role in expanding financial support for university colleges, proposing key policies, and actively addressing urgent issues, thereby serving as a representative figure in the field of university college education.
Observers note that his re-election reflects trust in his ability to continue strengthening the competitiveness and driving innovation in higher vocational education for university colleges amid changing educational environments, such as declining school-age populations, regional extinction, and the spread of artificial intelligence (AI).
President Kim plans to accelerate higher vocational education innovation based on his vision to "usher in a new era for Korea’s university colleges through top-tier employment outcomes and enhanced global standing."
His key initiatives include strengthening employment competitiveness in national core industries, establishing a stable financial support system through the enactment of the Vocational Education Act, promoting the global spread of K-TVET, and building a support system for AI-based educational innovation.
