Introducing Curator Programs Linked to Special and Permanent Exhibitions
The National Museum of Korea announced on June 29 that it will host the “Conversations with Curators” program every Wednesday evening during extended opening hours throughout July.

View original imageThis month's program will feature a total of 20 guided sessions held in both the Special Exhibition Hall and the Permanent Exhibition Hall. The special exhibition “Amazing Thailand: Masterpieces of Thai Art Exhibition,” which introduces Thai culture and art to Korea for the first time, will be explained in four sessions. This exhibition highlights Thailand’s history and art from prehistory to the mid-20th century.
There will also be six sessions guiding visitors through the special exhibition “Our Dining Table,” which explores the meaning of dining tables that embody life and nature. The exhibition curator will explain the planning intent and introduce key works.
In the Permanent Exhibition Hall, guides will cover various topics. In the Baekje Room of the Prehistory and Ancient History Gallery, the session on “The Crown Ornaments of Queen Muryeong of Baekje” will examine the archaeological value of artifacts excavated from the Tomb of King Muryeong in Gongju. In the Silla Room, the theme “Crowns of Silla” will address the symbolism of gold crowns. The Goryeo Room will feature a session on “Buddhist Culture of the Goryeo Dynasty,” while the Joseon Room will offer commentary on “The Record-Keeping Culture of the Joseon Dynasty.”
On the second floor, in the Room for Contemplation, there will be a guide session on “Bodhisattva in Pensive Pose in East Asia.” In the Calligraphy and Painting Gallery, themed sessions will be held, including “Danwon Kim Hongdo, Painting the Era” and “Damage and Restoration of Calligraphy and Paintings.” On the third floor, in the Sculpture and Crafts Gallery, visitors can participate in themed sessions such as “Four Seasons of Green Bamboo Captured in Ceramics” and “Celadon Incense Burner with Chilbo Patterns.” In the World Culture Gallery’s Islamic Room, there will be a session on “Islamic Textiles and Patterns.”

“Conversations with Curators” will take place every Wednesday from 6:00 to 6:30 p.m. and from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m. Participation is open to all on-site without prior registration and there is no limit on the number of participants. Admission to the Permanent Exhibition Hall is free, while special exhibitions require a separate admission fee. Re-entry to the Special Exhibition Hall is not permitted once you exit.
