Win-Win Cooperation Foundation Launches "Visiting Food Service" in Rural Areas with KRW 700 Million Investment
Seven Counties Selected, Including Jeongseon, Cheongyang, Sunchang, and Jangsu
The Foundation for Cooperation between Large Corporations, SMEs, and Agricultural and Fishing Villages (Win-Win Cooperation Foundation) announced on the 29th that it will participate in the "Visiting Food Service Support Project" to improve access to groceries for residents of rural and fishing communities.
This project was established to address the inconvenience faced by rural residents who have difficulty purchasing groceries. NH Investment & Securities, in support of closing the food service gap in rural areas and promoting community win-win initiatives, contributed KRW 1 billion to the Win-Win Cooperation Fund for Agriculture and Fisheries. Of this, KRW 700 million will be allocated to this project as a priority. As the fund management institution, the Win-Win Cooperation Foundation will be responsible for the preliminary review, deliberation, and execution management of fund usage.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has selected seven counties as the project’s target areas: Jeongseon County in Gangwon, Cheongyang County in South Chungcheong, Sunchang County and Jangsu County in North Jeolla, Sinan County in South Jeolla, Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang, and Namhae County in South Gyeongsang. For this project, a total of KRW 700 million will be invested, with KRW 100 million allocated per county. Each local government will also utilize its own resources to ensure the sustainability of the project.
The operation method will vary depending on local circumstances. In Sunchang, Yeongyang, and Jeongseon, the project will be run as a mobile market, where refrigerated and frozen trucks will circulate through villages selling goods. In Namhae, an order-delivery model will be introduced, using a public delivery app to take orders and deliver goods to the homes of vulnerable groups or to senior centers. In Sinan, Jangsu, and Cheongyang, a hybrid model will be applied, combining mobile sales and individual deliveries.
Each local government will complete tasks such as purchasing and modifying vehicles and conducting advance publicity for residents, with full-scale service set to begin in the second half of this year. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs also plans to expand the project by utilizing the Win-Win Cooperation Fund for Agriculture and Fisheries in additional rural basic income pilot areas to be selected in the future.
