US-Iran Ceasefire and Follow-up Talks Ongoing... Oil Tanker Attacked in Strait of Hormuz
After the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, another incident involving an attack on a civilian vessel has occurred in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to the Associated Press on June 27 (local time), the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) announced that an oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz was attacked by an unidentified projectile. All crew members are reported to be safe, and the party responsible for the attack has not yet been identified.
Previously, on June 25, Iran attacked a container ship passing through the Persian Gulf. In response, after the United States launched airstrikes on Iran's missile and drone bases, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran also issued a statement saying that it had attacked U.S. military bases in the Middle East. The specific locations targeted in the attacks were not disclosed.
