"Big Data Equivalent to 200,000 Movies"… LG Electronics and NVIDIA Join Forces to Shape the Physical AI Landscape
President Ryu Announces Details of Follow-Up Discussions with NVIDIA
Development of Robot Form Factor and Data Center Cooling Solutions
Establishment of LG Data Factory Based on NVIDIA Platform
LG Electronics has unveiled its future strategy to take the lead in the Physical AI ecosystem in partnership with Nvidia. Recently, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who visited Korea, showed keen interest in LG Electronics’ differentiated capabilities in spatial control and infrastructure. As a result, the two companies have agreed to establish a comprehensive collaboration system encompassing robotics, AI data centers, and smart factories.
On June 26, Jaecheol Ryu, President and CEO of LG Electronics, announced on the company’s LinkedIn channel, "LG Electronics and Nvidia have further specified the areas of collaboration and strategic partnership for Physical AI through additional discussions held in the United States."
President Ryu added, "During CEO Jensen Huang’s recent visit to Korea, LG Electronics’ differentiated competitiveness in realizing Physical AI by connecting data, spaces, devices, and industrial infrastructure attracted significant attention. Subsequent discussions in the United States allowed us to further specify the scope of cooperation and strategic partnership opportunities with Nvidia."
The two companies have agreed to establish a close operational framework to jointly expand the Physical AI ecosystem. The first area of collaboration will be the development of a 'next-generation robot form factor,' which is expected to become a flagship of Physical AI. By combining Nvidia’s high-performance AI platform with LG Electronics’ proprietary robotics technology and manufacturing expertise, they aim to introduce innovative devices that will set new standards in the future robotics market.
The scope of their cooperation will not be limited to robotics. The companies plan to create technological synergies across a wide range of areas, including the establishment of the 'LG Data Factory' using Nvidia’s platform, the advancement of the 'LG AI Data Center Cooling Solution' to address the global bottleneck caused by surging power consumption and high heat generation, and the development of LG’s mass-production system for robotics.
To enable Physical AI to function in the real world, vast and highly precise 'real-world data' extracted from physical environments, rather than processed language data, is essential. This is why Nvidia has chosen LG Electronics, which has engaged with customers worldwide through its smart home platform 'ThinQ,' as its Physical AI partner.
President Ryu stated, "LG Electronics has accumulated a deep understanding of customers’ lifestyles, device usage patterns, movement flows within spaces, and energy consumption by designing and operating a variety of spaces such as homes, commercial facilities, factories, and mobility platforms over several decades." He added, "In the past ten years alone, the amount of data generated from 31 production facilities across 14 countries has approached 770TB (terabytes)." This is an astronomical scale—enough to simultaneously store approximately 197,000 high-definition movies of 4GB each—exceeding the amount of data collected by the Hubble Space Telescope.
LG Electronics’ competitiveness in components and manufacturing capabilities is also cited as a major differentiator. To realize AI in the physical world, powerful physical actuation using sensors, motors, and actuators is essential, as these components enable hardware to operate in real environments.
President Ryu emphasized, "LG Electronics is a company equipped with a technology ecosystem capable of realizing the AI-powered future. Through next-generation cooling solutions and AI data center technology collaboration in the AI infrastructure sector, we are supporting the creation of more efficient and stable AI operating environments." LG Electronics is internalizing the entire value chain necessary for Physical AI implementation, based on its world-class mechanical and manufacturing capabilities, including its self-developed, advanced high-performance component, the 'LG Actuator Axiom.'
President Ryu further stressed, "Ultimately, what global big tech companies like Nvidia desperately need is a partner with the execution power to deploy, operate, and scale AI in the physical world. With its vast real-world data, expertise in physical spaces, and manufacturing execution capabilities, LG Electronics will be the most reliable strategic partner in the era of Physical AI."
He added, "In line with the evolution of AI, global demand to implement and expand AI in the real world is expected to grow explosively. Together with leading global companies like Nvidia, we will turn the infinite possibilities of Physical AI into reality by connecting AI to tangible customer value and industrial innovation."

Previously, Kwangmo Koo, Chairman of LG Group, met with CEO Huang at the LG Twin Towers in Yeouido, Seoul, earlier this month, where they agreed to strengthen their partnership across the entire AI ecosystem, including the joint development of reference (development standard) robots, and to enhance mid- to long-term collaboration. Subsequently, on June 22, executives from major LG Group affiliates visited Nvidia’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, to discuss follow-up cooperation plans with Nvidia’s management team.
